Most distinguished ladies and gentleman from home and abroad.
It’s a great pleasure for me to have this occasion to speak to you.
At the same time, I am very much ashamed to be a unashamed speaker, for I am quite a stranger to and totally ignorant of community dance.
I tried to find some definition on it – but I found most plausible definition on definition is this – that a definition may be very exact and yet go a little way toward informing us the nature of thing defined. So I dare not define what community dance is.
What I believe is that dance should not be incarcerated, imprisoned in bird-cage named stage. Sometimes it should be freed, liberated out of the cage-stage. And hopefully, community dance is one of the most desirable outlet for it’s liberation.
Dance may be fused and melted into community to lead people everywhere to experience and participate in dance. So that the whole world would be united in the wreath, garland of dance-forming ever grand rondeau – hand in hand, heart in heart, community in community.
Now our time and space is widely open to you, our honorable panel. I am sure what you are going to discuss will burn brightly to become a torch for community dance. The torch that would ascend the brightest heaven of invention, jubilation and bliss.
Since brevity is soul of wit, so much for my poor story and my poor English.
